assalamu alaikum wa rahmattullah,
what is the permissiblity of a muslim taking donations (i.e.this is his job for payment) for relief efforts for organizations like the American Red Cross to help people involved in the recent hurricane here in the US. The job takes place over the phone from the persons home and does not actually involve employment by the organization itself but he works as an 'independant' processing these calls for donations and giving out numbers to help victims. Is this a permissible form of work for a muslim or because the majority of the people involved are non muslims and these organizations are non muslim does that make this haram?
