As Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu

A brother in our community is getting married today.  He has several questions about the mahr and the marriage contract.

1. Whether the payment of part or all of the Mahr can be postponed indefinetly (a date uncertain) or without stipulating when it has to be paid, if both parties agree upon said postponement? (i.e their are not other conditions to paying it.)

2.  Must the amount of the mahr be placed in the written marriage contract, i.e.  where the witnesses who sign the contract can see the amount of the mahr?  The parties do not want the witnesses to know the amount of the mahr.  They want the contract to read, "the mahr has been agree upon".  Is this permissible.

3.  Must a written contract accompany the marriage.  We all believe that it must be, However what happens when parties get married orally only with an agreed upon mahr and two adult male witnesses, without a written contract is the marriage valid? a bidah etc.

4.  Is their a standard form that the salafi's use?

Jazakhallkyrn

Wa Alaikum Salaam
