Wa'alaykumussalaam wa rahmatullaah

In addition to this:  Is wudoo specifically for salaatil istikhaarah a necessary prerequisite for it even if a person is already in a state of tahaarah and is this also the case for salaatittawbah?  BaarakAllaahu feekum.

As salamu alaikum

I don't have a lot of knowledge but I do know that Al-Wudhoo' is a condition of the Salaah. I don't know of it being a condition of Du'aa. While we are on the subject of Istikhaarah it would be nice if one of those close to the 'Ulamaa could get some clarity on how Istkhaarah is to be performed in general. For example, is the Du'aa said during the Salaah or after? If it is to be done after the Salaah must one raise his/her hands while making the Du'aa. Perhaps one of the students can help us with this research.

Assalaamu 'alaikom,

I have i ever heard of any sort of legislation that we must repeat our acts of good deeds after making mistakes (knowingly) when we are able to correct them. But it is obvious and clear if this was true, it would have become a hardship upon the Muslims, as your experience shows.

As Allah said in the Quran:

"Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you." (2:185);

"And strive hard in Allâh?s Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islâmic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion of Islâm), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship." (22: 78).

And we know the Deen is very easy. Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by offering the Salât (prayers) in the mornings, afternoons and during the last hours of the nights." (See Fath-ul-Bari, Page 102, Vol 1). (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.1, Hadith No.38).

Remember Allah did not make us free of making mistakes, so strive to be near to perfect your istikhara and your other good deeds, and if you make a mistake, correct yourself and continue. There is no prohibition from doing so.

and Allah knows best.

At-Tahaarah or Al-Wudhoo' is a condition for Salaah in general. If one is already in Wudhoo' then why must he/she repeat it for Salaatul-Istikhaarah/Salaatut-Tawbah? Where is the proof that says that one must repeat the ablution? If one messes up during the Du'aa itself then where is the proof that says that he/she must start all over again from scratch? Why can't he/she just repeat the parts of the Du'aa that were mixed/messed up? Finally, I recall hearing Shaikh Ubaid Al-Jaabiree (May Allah preserve him) say in a live class on paltalk "laa tastaslim lilwasaawis" do not submit to the wisperings of Shaytaan and Allah knows best.

Salaamu Ailaykum,

Barakallaahu Feekum for whoever researches this issue because we all can benefit from it.  I'd like to again ask for someone to get one of the kibar Ulemah or someone like Shaykh Fawzee to give a detail dars (perhaps on paltalk) on the Shart, Fiqh etc. of making du'a, peroid.  That is an act of eebadah that I've never heard a detailed explanation about.  I'd like to know how ahlul-ilm make du'ah.

Barakallaahu Feekum,

Daud
