(Meaning - it is not enough just to refute the people of innovation, but we do not speak to or sit with any of them. A Student of Knowledge said, "Imam Ahmed said, 'Laysa sunni man radd ala ahlul bidah, wa innamas sunni man yu Qallim ahlil bid'ah.' meaning "The Sunni with us is not the one who refutes Ahlul Bid'ah but the Sunnee is the one who does not speak with Ahlul Bid'ah." No references were given. Is such a quote authentically reported from Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal or any of the other Salaf in addition to Imam Abdullah al-Basree as mentioned above? The reference for the quote of Imam Abdullah al-Basree in my previous post is Al-Ibaanah #478 JazaakAllah khayr.
