In the Name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the Worlds, and may the Salaat was Salaam be upon the most honored of the Prophets and Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad. As to what proceeds: The noble shaikh, al-Allaamah Saalih ibnu Fawzaan ibni Abdillaah al-Fawzaan was asked the following question: Question: I find some vagueness between Ibnu Arabee and Ibnul Arabee. I would hope that you would explain for us the difference between the two and their most well, known writings? Answer:

Jazaakum Allaahu khayran. It should be noted that this is not absolute, as some of the 'ulamaa' do not go by this. Just as some say Ibn 'Uthaymeen sometimes and Ibn al-'Uthaymeen sometimes, 'Abbaas, al-'Abbaas, Ibn Qayyim, Ibn al-Qayyim, etc., they may say Ibn 'Arabee and Ibn al-'Arabee for the same person. And Allaah knows best. Moosaa ibn John Richardson ******************** سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أستغفرك وأتوب إليك

There is a man I know here in London who follows Ibn Arabi. Not Ibn al-Arabee (rahimahullaah), but Ibn-Arabi. He is a middle-aged man from Somalia. He has been to Saudi and knows of Shaykh Rabee' ibn Haadee, who he referred to as an "extremist Salafee". He even claims that Hasan al-Basree (rahimahullaah) was a Sufi! When I saw him recently he was carrying a copy of one of Ibn Arabi's books. I would like to ask one of the students of knowledge, du'aat or anyone who knows what the people of knowledge say the following question: Are some of the followers of Ibn Arabi considered mushriks*? I'm not asking for a ruling on this particular individual, I'm just asking the question generally. *Ibn Arabi had major shirk and kufr in his aqeedah. Please refer to "The Reality of Sufism" by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Rabee' for an exposition and refutation of him. This message was edited by Khalil.Karoosi on 5-4-05 @ 2:56 PM
