Question: What is the condition of Jaami'atul-Eemaan (Al-Eemaan University)? And the brother who is asking the question says, "There are those who say that Shaikh Muqbil (rahimahullaah) was mistaken in his criticism of it, and Shaikh Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) praised it (the school)?"

Answer: Firstly, from what is well known is that the person of a land, one who lives in that land, is more knowledgeable of it than others (who live elsewhere). This is a well known principle. So if a scholar praises a man, then another man makes disparaging remarks (Jarh) against him (that same man), and he (the second criticizer) is from his same land, and the proof (for the disparagement) is established, then the statement of the second man is given precedence.

Secondly, this University, Jaami'atul-Eemaan in Yemen, whose president or head is this man Az-Zindaanee, it has been confirmed with us with proof that it is a Qutbiyyah school. So it is obligatory to beware of it. And we do not think that it is permissible to study in it. And we have with us the testimony that was written about them by the noble brother, the Shaikh, Muhammad bin 'Abdil-'Azeez Al-Imaam, the Yemeni, and he is Thiqah (reliable) with us. Yes.
