  Assala mu alaikum akhi

There is an article on this forum called: 'Evil of Bilal philips', posted by our brother Abu Khadijah (hafidha ullah).  I myself read this article a long time ago, at www.spubs.com, in the forum, under 'rebuttals and clarifications'.  I can vaguely remember that brother abu khadijah mentioned that in that book, bilal philips incites the people to rebel against the rulers and have hatred for them.  In fact Bilal Philips acknowledged this serious error in manhaj, in his dialogue with brother abu khadijah, and bilal claims that his wife was the one who alerted him to this mistake and he now holds that he shouldn't have written that.

This is the only mistake that I know of, please refer to the above mentioned article, for more detailed info on this individual.  Perhaps some other brother can provide the reference for what I have brought forward insha allah.

Barrak allahu feek

  Bismillahirrahmaanirraheem!

Assalaamuaalaikum wa rahmathullahi wa barakaathuhu!

Jazakallahu Khair for the reply. Here's the link.

http://www.salafipublications.com/sps/frm/fileattachments/ReplyBP.pdf

I'd suggest a better book by Allamah Saleh al Fauzaan named Kitab At Tauheed, published by Dar-as-Salaam. Its my personal opinion that I do not encourage the distribution of any of the books written or translated by this man Bilal Philips who continues to attack the Salafees as he had done during his visit last year in October to Bangalore.

Besides this, he continues to confuse the common folk with his Shub'haath. We have his discussion recorded with us and is available for any student of knowledge to download and respond to the doubts raised by Bilal and his attacks on Salafees.

Insha Allah if any of the students of knowledge are ready to take up this job, I will give the url from where you could download. Please PM me.

Hence my suggestion is that you should not distribute his books or tapes or articles etc. for we have the clear books of our Ulemaa, the trustworthy ones of this Ummah, the defenders of Sunnah, Alhamdulillah and Allah has not left us dependent upon those who are in opposition to the blessed Salafi Manhaj to learn one of  the most important issue like Tauheed. No, neither is it the Sunnah  of Allah (Sub'haanahu wa ta'ala) and nor should we put ourselves or others into believing it knowingly or unknowingly. For promotion of his books and tapes will only confuse the common folk, encourages the likes of him to be more daring upon a methodology that is opposed to that of the Salaf which is one of the source of differing and seperation in the Ummah.

Said Shaikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah):
"Thus if the innovation is done publicly, then its recompense must be done in public, as well, in accordance with conceivable justice. For this reason, it is not considered backbiting to talk about one who openly publicizes his innovations and wickedness, as has been reported on Al-Hasan Al-Basree and others. This is because when one publicizes that, he justifies himself to be punished by the Muslims. The least of these forms of punishment is that he should be dispraised and dishonoured so that the people may avoid and refrain from him and his deviance. And if he is not dispraised and the evil or disobedience or innovation that lies within him is not conveyed(to the public), then the people will be deceived by him. Then it is likely that this will bring some of them to act upon what he believes in. At the same time, it will only cause him to increase in his daringness, evil and disobedience".

Insha Allah we are sure to take up the doubts raised by Bilal in  his pointless discussion to one of the Kibaar Ulemaa which is openly distributed and spread amongst the common folk here in Bangalore who are unaware of Dawatus Salafiyyah by his patronizers and sympathizers inspite of our warning and explaining them his mistakes in Manhaj.

Said the Shaykh Ubayd al-Jabiree (hafidhahullah): [Referring to Bilal]
"...So this person must be with the Salafees and add to their ranks and strengthen their power, and for him to differentiate from the innovators and strives to show the Sunnah and warning against the innovations, THEN HE WILL BE UPON THE CORRECT SALAFI METHODOLOGY. The methodology that differentiates and clarifies. We may not tell him not to give them salaam and not give shake their hands, in(it) some circumstances this may not be easy, but his love and his inclination must be for the salafees and ahlu Sunnah. His inclination, love and advice should not be to the innovators amongst the tableeghis, ikhwaanis and other than them. This will strengthen their power and weaken the ahlu Sunnah and others who are not equipped with knowledge and correct methodology will be deceived by his actions".

End quotes from Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree, by way of Abdul-Ilah
Lahmami (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)".[Taken from the same article at SP,
page number 7].

I quote this so as to remind all those along with Bilal who claim that the people at SP cannot be relied upon for translation of the words from the Shaikh when in fact it has come from the brother Abdul-Ilah Lahmami who is well known to brother Faisal who is still here in Bangalore. I say, to those who are in confusion, here in Bangalore, give a call to your brother Faisal and clear atleast this one issue before spreading the empty claims.Wallahu Mus'tha'aan.

Anything good is from Allah and most assuredly, all mistakes are mine. Its a praiseworthy quality to remind your brother his mistakes and Insha Allah I will be open for correction.

Al-Hamdulillah wa salatu wa salamu ala Rasulullah

Amma ba'du;

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah;

The nasihah of Brother Abdul-Azeem should be well taken. From personal experience I've learned, and hope to share, that through association with indivisuals of error this not a good practice. Muslims I may have referred to a book or even web-site that had erroneous matters and they have at times come away from that book or web-site with a misguided understanding. Now I, and insha'allah not you, have to return to those Muslims and correct that misguidance. They'll say "why did you refer me to that book then?" Or even worst, they might even accept it as their belief or practice, astaghfirullah. Let us adhere to the correct manhaj and refer Muslims to the Ulama, as they are the Inheritors of the Prophets [alaihimus
salam], the Students of knowledge are not a bad investment either. Be careful of the ignorant who are without knowledge and that are mislead, because they will give you ignorant fatwa without knowledge, mislead and misleading.

  As-Salaamu 'alaykum,

Towards the beginning of his book, Bilaal calls to khurooj on the hukaam, I believe it is at the end of the chapter in which he breaks down the three categories of at-Tawheed.
And Allaah knows best.

  Aslaamu alaikum wa rehmatullaah,

As for the link to Abu Khadeejah's and Salafi Publications' refutation upon Bilal Philips, then the link on this site seems easier to get to:

http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=6&Topic=562&keywords=

As for the works of the innovators, then this issue has tafseel (detail in explanation) to it and I refer by brothers to the excellent article on Salafi Publications from Al-Allaamah 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree, hafidhzahullaah:

http://www.spubs.com/sps/downloads/pdf/BDH050009.pdf

Please go to page 3, question 5 of this article.

Your northern brother.

I have the tape where sheikh Obayd refuted the statements of Bilal Philips and i did not translate everything there is a lot more on the tape. What was translated though is sufficient for us to be careful from the books of Bilal Philips until he retracts his errors openly as they have been spread openly. This is honouring the haq above ourselves.

Bilal Phillips claims Tawheed is three categories in the book, and if the brothers from London remember he made a big fuss at brixton masjid when he was accused of adding a fourth yet he was the one handing out the cassettes by Ali timimi 'advice to the salafis', to the brothers in the UK.

Who Is The Liar? Bilal Philips Or the "Ahle Hadith Youth Association" A.H.Y.A. ?

When Bilal Philips came to Bangalore in October 2002, I was in Europe. When I returned back, the Board members of Jam'iath requested me not to warn against Bilal as he had openly declared his tawbah. They informed me that Bilal Philips said openly in front of the crowd...

quote:

It is the pirates (those who without Permission of Bilal Philips are secretly pirating Bilal's books and selling them in India) who are spreading the book of tawheed which has mistakes, while I have already sent the corrections to the publishers in UK and in the next publication these mistakes will be rectified.

So here we are, 5 years on!!! Has the book been corrected?
The last I checked it was still the same, sub`hanAllaahil-Adheem!!!

And who are those pirates? Do you know Bilal? They are your friends!!!

To be continued!

Bilal Philips Disparages Shaykh Ibn Baaz, Ibn Uthaimeen & Other Scholars!!

When Bilal Philips was question regarding his making ta'weel of hadeeth, he responds saying:

' Well!, I will question whether that represents ta'weel of the hadeeth, in the sense that even that probability and I said, "PROBABLY". I didn't say, it means this. Right? so I said the word PROBABLY looking at the understanding right now, Sun rises in the east. This is the end result of the rotation of the earth.

quote:

There are some Scholars who believe, earth doesn't rotate!!! We have to deal with all of that, [ ha ha ha! Zakir Naik's Muqallid followers laughter in the background along with Bilal Philips laughter of mockery upon these Scholars] those who accept that the earth does rotate, right? this is what gives us the impression that the Sun is rising.....

To be continued Insha Allaah!

Fatwa Of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-Uthaimeen rahimahullaah

Ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

Question: Does the sun revolve around the earth?

Answer: It is apparent from the Islaamic evidences that they confirm that it is the sun which revolves around the earth, and by its revolving the alternation of night and day takes place on the surface of the earth. It is not for us to exceed the apparent meanings of these evidences without some evidence stronger than that, which permits us to explain them differently from their apparent meaning. Among the proofs that the sun revolves around the earth in a manner which causes the alternation of the night and day are the following:

1) Allaah, the Most High says, that when Ibraaheem (`alayhi as-Salaam), disputed with the one who argued with him concerning his Lord:

"Verily, Allah brings the sun form the east; then bring it you from the west."

[Soorah al-Baqarah 2:258]

2) He also tells us that Ibraaheem (`alayhi as-Salaam) said:

"When he saw the sun rising up, he said: 'This is my lord. This is greater.' But when it set, he said: 'O my people! I am indeed free from all that you join as partners (in worship with Allaah)."

[Soorah al-An`aam 6:78]

So He described the settings as an attribute of the sun and not that the earth set upon it, for if it was the earth which revolved, He would have said: but when (the earth) set upon it.

3) Allaah the Most High says:

"And you might have seen, the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left."

[Soorah al-Kahf 18:17]

He has described the declining and turning away as descriptions of the sun, and that is a proof that the movement was from the sun. If it was a description of the earth, He would have said: Their Cave declined from it. Likewise, describing the sun as rising and setting proves that it is the sun which revolves, even though the indication of the may be less than the indication in His Words: "declining" and "turning away from them."

4) Allaah, the Most High says:

"And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun, and the moon, each in an orbit floating."

[Soorah al-Anbiyaaa' 21:33]

Ibn `Abbaas (radhiallaahu `anhu) said: "They revolve in an orbit, like the turning of a mill. This was widely reported from him.

5) Allaah, the Most High says:

"He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly."

[Soorah al-Ara'af 7:54]

He described the night as seeking the day, and the seeker rushes and overtakes, and it is well known that the night and the day follow the sun.

6) Allaah, the Most High says:

"He has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving."

[Soorah az-Zumar 39:5]

and His Words:

"He makes the night to go in the day" that is, it turns around it, as a turban is wrapped around, which proves the revolving of the night and the day around the earth. If it were the earth which revolved around them, He would have said: He causes the earth to revolve around the night and day.

And in His words:

"the sun and the moon, each running (on a fixed course)." It is clear from what precedes it that it is a proof that the sun and the moon move in a perceptible orbit, because subjecting something which moves to its movement is more apparent than subjecting something stationary which does not move.

7) Allaah, the Most High say:

"By the sun and its brightness. By the moon as it follows it (the sun)."

[Soorah ash-Shams 91:1-2]

And the meaning of: "follows it" is that 'it comes after it' and this is a proof of their moving and revolving around the earth, for if it were the earth which revolved around them, the moon would not be following the sun; rather it would sometimes be following it and sometimes it would be followed by it, because the sun is higher than it. And deduction from this verse requires study and reflection.

8) Allaah, the Most High say:

"And the sun runs o*n its fixed course for a term {appointed}. That is the Decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. And the moon, We have measured for it mansions {to traverse} till it returns like the old dried date stalk. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit."

[Soorah Ya-Seen 36:38-40]

So, attributing the movement to the sun and describing it as a Decree from the Almighty, Most Wise proves that it is a real movement with a far-reaching Decree, since the consequence of it is the alternation of the night and day and the seasons.

The measure of the moon's mansions (i.e., stations) is a proof that it traverses them, for if it was the earth which revolves , the measuring of the mansions would be for the earth's movement around the moon and not for the moon's movement around it.

And negating the sun's ability to overtake the moon, and the night's ability to outstrip the day are evidence of the rushing movement on the part of the sun and the moon, and the night and the day.

9) The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said to Aboo Tharr (radhiallaahu `anhu), when the sun had just set: "Do you know where it goes?" He said, "Allaah and His Messenger knows best." He (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Verily, it goes (i.e., travels) and it prostrates beneath the Throne and seeks permission to rise, and permission is granted to it. Then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but will not be permitted, but it will be ordered: Return from whence you came, and so it will rise in the West."

[Reported by al-Bukhaaree in the Book of the Beginning of Creation, in the Chapter: Description of the Sun and the Moon (#3199), and by Muslim in the Book of Faith, in the Chapter: Explanation of the Time when Faith will not be accepted (#159)].

So and it is extremely clear from his words: Return from whence you came that it revolves around the earth and through its revolving the sunrise and sunset occur.

10) It is clear from the many ahaadeeth which attribute rising, setting, and declining from its zenith to the sun, that it is the sun which does so and so and the earth.
