Asking about People -Shaykh Rabee al Madkhalee Question: May Allah bless you.And may Allah be good with you. Is asking about people,the way of the salaf? The Sheikh: "What?" Questioner: Is asking about people,the way of the salaf? The Sheikh:If it is from the methodology of selef? Questioner:Yes Sheikh:"Yes,it is from the methodology of the salaf.Look from who you take knowledge.This knowledge is the Religion.So be carefulvas to whom you take your Religion from." (Ibn Sireen in Muslim no 114 and Abu Nu'aym in al-Hilyatul-Awliyaa 1/28-38/248) There are people who ask these question with truthfulness and pure intention.He wants to take knowledge from the people of knowledge with a correct Aqeedah and correct Metodology. And it is for him to ask.. And there are some who ask about people because they want Fitan(chaos) In these times there are a lot of questions like; 'What is your opinion about that person,What is your opinion about that person,What is your opinion about that person?' And his intention with asking about these people is not to take knowledge from them or distantiale from them. His goal is something else. The spreading of chaos and evil between people.But these questions (with this goal)is a reason for chaos. And the case is to be judged on the intention with it. But if the questioner wants good with it,and wants to gain knowledge,and he wants the corret knowledge.
