  Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 15:
Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:

1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.

2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.

3. Who hates to revert to kufr (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."

My question is: is it correct to love someone (e.g. spouse, childeren, etc.) because of their relationship to you as well as for the sake of Allah.

Scholars have mentioned that love is of two types:

[1] mahabbah shar'iy-yah ( ıııı ııııı )

[2] mahabbah tabee'iy-yah ( ıııı ıııııı )

The fist one refers to one's love for Allaah, His Book, His Prophets, His Awliyaa', and everything that Allaah loves.  This is from a person's eemaan, and it is a basic requirement for every Muslim.  The people differ in their levels of this love as they differ in their levels of eemaan.

The second category is one's natural love for his parents and relatives, his children, his spouse, his house, his car, etc.  The objects of one's natural love can sometimes become objects of the first category of love, and thus rewardable and commendable.

If you have understood this then you know that the answer to the question is: yes, and your love for them will vary depending on the correctness of their beliefs and actions.

And Allaah knows best.
