assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah The next book studied in the Monday classes at Masjid us Salafi, Birmingham, UK will be ýal Usool ath Thalaathahý of the Shaykh ul Islaam Muhammad ibn ýAbdil Wahhaab rahimahullaah. These classes are due to begin this Monday (3rd March 2008) inshaa Allaah at the Salafi Masjid. Aboo Talhah Dawood Burbank will inshaa Allaah be going through the explanation of ýal Usool ath Thalaathahý written by Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan, one of the senior scholars alive today. The classes are broadcast on Paltalk starting around 2000 UK time each Monday. The class is an excellent opportunity to study this tremendous book (as opposed to just listening to the dars) via the careful word for word translation of the book given in the class. For those who wish to do more, then we will now be beginning (on salafitalk.net) a series of questions and answers on this same explanation of ýal Usool ath Thalaathahý. The Q and A will be going at the same pace as the Monday class and are mostly in a multiple answer format, where one or more answers are correct. The questions will inshaa Allaah be posted on salafitalk.net before each Monday class and the answers posted a few days later. It is hoped that the Q and A will act as an additional tool for revising what was explained in the dars, as well as a means for people to study and revise before and after the class. That taking partners along with Allaah in worship: a) Is something very serious and therefore great attention needs to be paid to this b) Is a good thing so long as the partners taken are righteous beings c) Is forbidden, regardless of who the partner taken along with Allaah is d) Might be done with the excuse that these partners are just intercessors and not actual objects of worship e) Was something which even the people in Jaahiliyyah did not do Answers: a) c) d) In order to remove the potential for serious confusion, question d) could perhaps be rephrased as: d) Is done by some people with the excuse that these partners are just intercessors and not actual objects of worship in which case the answer would be correct. May Allaah reward the person who pointed this out with abundant good.

Please take note of the following three corrections: 1) That it is stated in the footnote relating to Box 29 Question 8 that Shaykh Zayd al Madkhalee hafidhahullaah mentions in his explanation of Thalaathat ul Usool : (page 78) So whoever singles Allaah out with worship, then he is a muwahhid (person of tawheed); and whoever directs worship to other than Him, then he is a mushrik (person of shirk) ; and whoever associates other than Him along with Him in worship, then he is also a mushrik. For indeed Allaah alone is the One who truly deserves (all) worship WITH any partner along with Him in that. CORRECTION: The word ýwithý I have highlighted in capitals should of course read ýwithoutý. ============================ 2) With regards to Box 57, the question: Q1. That dhabh: a) is forbidden in all circumstances b) must never be directed to other than Allaah c) involves sacrificing animals or humans for Allaah alone d) is of different types CORRECTION: In order to remove any ambiguity in the question, the question has been rephrased as: Q1.
