Bismi'llaah wal hamdulilaah was-salaatu wa salaam 'ala Rasulilaah wa ba'd:

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatulaah!

Does anyone have any detailed information concerning the (two tribes or people) of Ya'juj and Ma'juj which could answer the questions below?

When the king Dhu'l-Qarnayn (rahimahullaah) who (ruled the east & west) traveled eastwards until he reached a pass between two mountains, where he came upon the Ya'juj and Ma'juj as mentioned in the following ayah:

 Al-Kahf (18):93
ÍóÊøóì ÅöÐóÇ ÈóáóÛó Èóíúäó ÇáÓøóÏøóíúäö æóÌóÏó ãöä ÏõæäöåöãóÇ ÞóæúãðÇ áøóÇ íóßóÇÏõæäó íóÝúÞóåõæäó ÞóæúáðÇ

Until, when he reached between two mountains, he found, before (near) them (those two mountains), a people who scarcely understood a word.

#1) Do we know where the king was traveling from?  And do we know where these two particular mountains are located that he came upon?

#2) Ibn Kathir(rahimahullaah) mentions that the Ya'juj and Ma'juj are two groups of Turks, descended from Yafith (Japheth), one of the sons of Nuh ('alaihi as-salaam). Was Yafith the same son (of Nuh) who remained with the disbelievers as mentioned in the ayaat below?

  Hud (11):42-43
æóåöíó ÊóÌúÑöí Èöåöãú Ýöí ãóæúÌò ßóÇáúÌöÈóÇáö æóäóÇÏóì äõæÍñ ÇÈúäóåõ æóßóÇäó Ýöí ãóÚúÒöáò íóÇ Èõäóíøó ÇÑúßóÈ ãøóÚóäóÇ æóáÇó Êóßõä ãøóÚó ÇáúßóÇÝöÑöíäó  ¤  ÞóÇáó ÓóÂæöí Åöáóì ÌóÈóáò íóÚúÕöãõäöí ãöäó ÇáúãóÇÁ ÞóÇáó áÇó ÚóÇÕöãó Çáúíóæúãó ãöäú ÃóãúÑö Çááøåö ÅöáÇøó ãóä ÑøóÍöãó æóÍóÇáó ÈóíúäóåõãóÇ ÇáúãóæúÌõ ÝóßóÇäó ãöäó ÇáúãõÛúÑóÞöíäó  ¤

So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nûh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), "O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers." The son replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water." Nûh (Noah) said: "This day there is no saviour[] from the Decree of Allâh except him on whom He has mercy." And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.

Or was Yafith a different son (not mentioned in the ayaat) who was saved along with Nuh ('alaihi as-salaam)?

#3) And lastly, what do the 'Ulema say concerning the "inspiration" that was received by king Dhu'l-Qarnayn (rahimahullaah) from Allaah?  Do we understand this to mean the kings (knowledge and understanding) or did he receive "inspiration"  in the same manner as a prophet?

 Al-Kahf (18):86
ÍóÊøóì ÅöÐóÇ ÈóáóÛó ãóÛúÑöÈó ÇáÔøóãúÓö æóÌóÏóåóÇ ÊóÛúÑõÈõ Ýöí Úóíúäò ÍóãöÆóÉò æóæóÌóÏó ÚöäÏóåóÇ ÞóæúãðÇ ÞõáúäóÇ íóÇ ÐóÇ ÇáúÞóÑúäóíúäö ÅöãøóÇ Ãóä ÊõÚóÐøöÈó æóÅöãøóÇ Ãóä ÊóÊøóÎöÐó Ýöíåöãú ÍõÓúäðÇ

Until, when he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water. And he found near it a people. We (Allâh) said (by inspiration): "O Dhul-Qarnain! Either you punish them, or treat them with kindness."

If anyone knows by way of tafseer or has any statements from the 'Ulema (past or present) which answer these questions, please provide insha'Allaah.

Barak Allaahu Feekum
