Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee al-Madkhalee on Usamah Hasan

The Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) was asked 29th January 2011, (25/Safar/1432) the following question:

"There is a mosque in London called Masjid al-Tawhid, those responsible for it are Suhaib Hasan and his son Usamah Hasan. They lead the people [in prayer] however Usamah believes in the theory of Darwin that Aadam (alayhis salaam) originated from apes, and he invites to this belief on the radio and television openly, and he accuses the Muslims of being backwards because they do not believe that. And the Muslims in this mosque rejected his statement, and his father Suhaib Hasan made clear that he does not believe that  [same belief] but he defended his son saying that if you expel him from the mosque, then you must also expel me from the mosque. And his son Usamah made clear by saying that the two parents of Aadam (alayhis salaam), their origin [is from beings that] are nearly-human. So what is your saying O Shaykh, may Allaah preserve you, regarding this person?"

The Shaykh's response can be downloaded here.

A summary translation is provided below, and a full translation will follow in due course inshaa'Allaah.

The Shaykh, after praising Allaah and prayers and salutations upon the Messenger, he said:

"Firstly, whoever says that Aadam (alayhis salaatu was salaam) came to be from two parents is a liar. Secondly, whoever says that the origin of Aadam (alayhis salaatu was salaam) was from apes, then he is a liar, [he] clashes with the text of the Mighty Qur'an in which Allaah, the Sublime, has informed us the how Aadam was created. Thirdly, whoever claims that there was human(s) [in existence] before Aadam and he evolved until Aadam came from him, he is also a liar, because there is no human found before Aadam..."

Then the Shaykh provides evidences and also states that Aadam was created of no mother and father. That Hawaa was created from Aadam of father, but no mother. And Eesaa (alayhis salaam) was created of a mother and no father. And as for all of the rest of mankind they are created of a father and mother.

Then the Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) says that "whoever claims that the origin of man is from apes has belied and has spoken about Allaah without knowledge..." The Shaykh also explained "that humanity is an independent nation and apes are also an independent nation" and that "whoever claims (the origin of man is from apes) he has lied upon Allaah and has stated something in the religion of Allaah which necessitates kufr, because he makes takdheeb of the Book of Allaah, and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), and this saying of his is the most rejected of sayings, the falsest of them, and he has followed the enemy of Allaah, the mulhid, Darwin, and has rejected what has come inthe Book of Allaah, the Blessed and Exalted."

The Shaykh then says:

"If this person is ignorant he is to learn and be taught and if he is not ignorant then he has disbelieved through this statement of his because it contradicts what is explicitly clear in the Qur'an, and what is explicit in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), and it is not permissible for anyone to defend him. It is not permissible to pray behind him, and whoever defends him, is to be aligned with him , without any concern, whoever that is."

He then references a fatwa of Ibn Baz (which can be found translated in [url=http://www.aqidah.com/creed/?tuzqe]this article[/url]). The Shaykh then says:

So we advise our Muslim brothers in Britain specifically and [those] in all places in the world to refute the one who speaks with this statement whether it is this person or anyone else, and all praise is due to Allaah, as has come in the question, the Muslims have rejected this from him, and it is not permissible for a people calling their mosque Masjid al-Tawhid to have this astray deviant as their imaam. So it is obligatory upon them to remove and expel him and to take another imaam. And whoever defended him, is to be aligned with him ...yes.

Note: The Shaykh clarified to us in a phone conversation one hour ago, that what he means by "whoever defends him is to be aligned with him" is that the prayer behind such a person should be boycotted, however this does not mean takfir of Suhayb Hasan.

Shaykh Salih al-Luhaydaan on Whoever Believes in Darwinism

We rang the Shaykh on 28th January 2011 and had the following brief conversation (recorded):

Questioner: The question - O Shaykh - is what is the ruling of the person who professes the statement of Darwin and the concept of evolution and claims that this does not oppose what is in the Quran and Sunnah; and that Adam has two parents that resemble monkeys?

Shaykh Saalih Al-Luhaydaan: This speech is evil and repulsive. Allah has informed us that he created Adam from Turaab. He created Adam and then he created his wife from him. So the one who adopts Darwinism, that man evolved from monkey, is a wicked person [Khabeeth] and there is no good in him.

Questioner: O Shaykh, is the prayer behind the one who believes this valid?

Shaykh Saalih Luhaydaan: No, no. It is not valid.

Questioner: O Shaykh, also some of those who claim to possess knowledge have stated that this position is considered ta'weel, which does not exit a person from the fold of Islam.

Shaykh Saalih Luhaydaan: This person is not truthful.  The one who believes in the teachings of Darwin is not a Muslim.

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan on Whoever Believes Aadam Had Parents and Was Not the First Human

The questioner says: O noble Shaykh, may Allah bless you, lately there has appeared on the television channels a people who it is said about them that they are people of understanding and knowledge who say that Adam was not the first human to be created but rather there existed humans before him but Allah chose him over them; and that Adam has a mother and father; and that Hawa was not created from the rib of Adam. What is your opinion concerning this?

The Shaykh, Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan responded by saying:

This is disbelief- and refuge is sought with Allah. This is disbelief and heresy. This is a rejection of the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic (where he informs us) that He created Adam from Turaab, He created him with His hand and Adam does not have a father or mother. And he informed that He created Hawaa from him: And from him (Adam) He created his wife (Hawa). (An-Nisaa: 1)

This means that He created Hawa from Adam. The one who denies this is a disbeliever and is an apostate (who has left) the religion of Islam.

Question to Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan (May Allah preserve him) at
the end of the lesson in Tafseer Hizb Al-Muffasal on 12/3/1431
corresponding with 14/2/2011.

The Question: He (the questioner) says: An imam in our country says that
Adam had a father and mother. And they resembled a human being. His
question:- Is the prayer permissible behind this man?

The Answer: This is absurd and false speech. Adam had no father nor mother.
Allah created him from dust. As for Hawaa (Eve) then she had a father and
no mother, as Allah created her from Adam peace be upon him.  The Mesiah
(Jesus) was from a mother and without a father. These are the categories of
the created human beings.  From them is the one who was created without
father nor mother, and he is Adam. From them is the one who was created
from a father and without a mother, and she is Eve the mother of mankind.
From them is the one who was created from a mother and without a father,
and he is Jesus. And from them are those who were created from a mother and
father, and they are the rest of mankind.
So this one who makes this statement, either he is ignorant and so it is
clarified to him and he retreats from this statement, and if he retreats
his imamate (leadership in the prayer) is correct.  And if it is clarified
to him and he doesn?t retreat, then this person is not to be prayed behind
because this is deviation from the truth (ilhaad) and rejection of Allah
(takdheeb lillaah) the Mighty and Majestic. Allah says that he created Adam
from dust, and this one says he was created from a mother and father!!

The Question: The theory that says that the human being was an ape in the
past, then he changed into a human ?.

The Answer: Likewise, this is deviation from the truth (ilhaad) and a
rejection of Allah (takdheeb lillaah) the Mighty and Majestic. The human
being, his origin is not from an ape. His origin is that Allah created him
from dust.  He created Adam. He is the origin of humanity. He created him
from dust. This is made explicitly clear in the Qur?an in many verses. So
this deviant (Mulhid) denies and rejects the Qur?an.

This is what Imam Abu Muhammad Al-Andaloosi Al-Qahtani said hundreds of years ago:

كن طالبا للعلم واعمل صالحا     فهما إلى سبل الهدى سببان
لا تتبع علم النجوم فإنه     متعلق بزخارف الكهان
علم النجوم وعلم شرع محمد     في قلب عبد ليس يجتمعان

This individual use to lead people in salah @ Masjid Tawheed, and he useto cry in his Tilaawah. However, when he got a place @ Cambridge University and successfully became a lecturer at one of the Universities (which ultimately lead to his destruction), did his beliefs and perspective of Islam begin to deteriorate purely because of what Imam Al-Qahtani said. Na'am.
