  Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah
The reason why i asked to post about visiting graves is I read something from a book by Shaykh Muhammad bin Jamil Zaynoo named"Manhaj of Saved sect" which I needed more explanation.
On chapter 25 which is abt Manifestations of shirk it says :
The most important of the manifestations are:
?
?
7)To set out on a journey to the graves:To seek blessings from graves or to pray beside them is not permissible due to the saying of the prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam:"Do not set out on a journey except to 3 mosques, the masjid Al-Haram,this masjid of mine and Masjid Al-Aqsa.Reported by Bukhari and Muslim.
So when we go to Al-Madinah we should say:"We are going to visit the prophet's masjid sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam and then give salaam to him"
?
ok my question is why intention to visit the grave of the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam is not permissible? And why intention must be to visit the masjid only??
How about the saying of the prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam:"Visit the graves as they remind you of the Hereafter" Part of a hadith recorded by Muslim, Ahmad,Al-Nasai, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah with the last word being "death" instead of "the Hereafter"??

I hope someone who has the knowledge of this will clarify it inshaAllaah.

Jazakallah Khayr
Wa'alaykum salam
Abu Abbas.
