wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

Haneef asked me to post this on his behalf:

quote:
As-Salaamu 'Alaykum

Abu 'Abdur-Rahman, JazaakAllaahu khayran for your carefulness in matters related to your Deen.

So that you might not misunderstand who I am, I thought I would clarify some points for you. I am living and working in Saudi Arabia , and have been able to sit with the scholars here over the years, as well as for a brief time in Yemen . However, it should be understood that I am not a full-fledged student of knowledge like our brothers who study at the universities and centers of knowledge. For this reason, I try to be careful not to involve myself in speaking engagements or media interviews.

Therefore, I see myself as a writer who saw the need to communicate the Salafi creed and methodology to Western readers in a way that might appeal to them. Since I am not qualified to speak by myself, I write using the works of the scholars. This is followed up by a vigorous correction process which ı amongst other things ı takes the following matters into consideration:

(1) The correctness of what is being said from a Shari'ah perspective (including what should be prioritized)

(2) Linguistic correctness

(3) Writing style

I approach many students of knowledge to help me with these matters, may Allaah reward them, and I also approach other people to help me with numbers two and three. In short, it is my belief that you can't print up enough rough copies for proof reading.

Lastly, I prefer to have the book approved by Ahlul-'Ilm, just to be sure about its content. This was not done for The 'Wahhabi' Myth, although I am presently rewriting it so that it can be updated and upgraded, with the hope that it can also be checked by them, Allaah willing.

I hope this clarifies your question for you, and encourages anyone who feels they can do something similar to do so, provided it is done under the guidance of those who are more knowledgeable.

May Allaah reward the administrators of this forum.

Was-Salaamu 'Alaykum

Haneef
