Topic: Ruling on Stunning Poultry - Chickens

I was hoping someone knew the ruling of stunning poultry, especially in relation to chickens, before slaughtering them in a slaughter house.
By stunning I mean - immobilisation - that is to say, without killing it; immobilising the chicken so that it does not lose consciousness; but, enough to prevent it from breaking its wings or injuring itself prior to slaughter, which could potentially cause infection to arise in the bruised and broken areas.

I understand that this type of low-voltage stunning is used all over the Muslim world, including Saudi Arabia. However, I wanted to acquire an official fatwa, preferably from the Lajnah, concerning its permissibility.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone who knows about this situation could provide me with the fatwa including a full reference, and any background information about this subject.
I understand that the scholars in Indonesia have also said Immobilisation is permissible.

Here in Britain, HFA's (Halal Food Authority) President, Masood Khawaja, told me that this is used all over the Muslim world, from Indonesia andSaudi Arabia, to America.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Wa salaam
