Test yourself on your understanding of al-Qawaa'id al-Muthlaa (Exemplary FOundations) of Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (p.11-92, which includes all of the principles):

Jazakum Allaahu Khairan Ahki Moosa, also I would like to recommend (for those who don't already have them) the two CD's Readings from al-Qawaa'idul-Muthlaa Part 1 & 2 (sold by TROID) which was a lecture given by our brother Moosa while in Toronto.  This is a very beneficial lecture masha'Allaah!

assalam alaykoum

i do not understand  how to make the jam' between qst: 7 and qst:19

quote:

7. Allaah's Names are tawqeefiyyah, meaning that it is a kind of knowledge that is restricted to textual evidence

quote:

19. Any Name or Attribute ascribed to Allaah that is not mentioned in the Qur'aan or the Sunnah must be rejected by Ahlus-Sunnah.

qst 19 beeing false.

Could you provide us with clarification on the 19th affirmation which is false ( i thought at 1st itwas true)?
barak Allahou fikoum.

#7 is clear in shaa' Allaah, but I expected that some people would have a problem understanding why #19 is false.  Review p.66-70 carefully and you will be able to explain why #19 is false, in shaa' Allaah.  May Allaah grant you success.

i did the test without having read this specific book but several materials like "sharh lam'atoul i'tiqaad" by shaykh al 'outhymin (cf. the intro) and articles on salafipubs.
that is why i asked you the question, lil assaf i do not have the book " al-Qawaa'id al-Muthlaa" at home.

  wa 'alaykumus-salaam

For those who don't have the book, here is a brief summary of one of the principles that leads us to understanding why #19 is false:

[1] We affirm all Names and Attributes that have been affirmed in the Book and/or the Sunnah

[2] We negate all Names and Attributes that have been negated in the Book and/or the Sunnah

[3] We remain silent about what has not been mentioned in the Book or the Sunnah.

Thus, we do not negate anything from Allaah unless we have a text, as it is a form of speaking about Allaah, and we are prohibited from speaking about Allaah without knowledge.
