As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Does anyone know where I can purchase an Arabic-Arabic dictionary and an English-Arabic dictionary in the States?

Jazaakum Allahu khairan

  Asslaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

All praise is due to Allaah, none has the right to be worshipped but He. May the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon the final Messenger Muhammed and his noble Companions, his family and all those who follow this path till the Day of Judgement.

You should be able to get the dictionary from Amazon.com Insha-Allaah.
I would recomend 'THE HANS WEHR DICTIONARY OF MODERN WRITTEN ARABIC'

As-Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu

There is a Bookstore in Michigan I believe that sells all you basically need in dicitionaries and Arabi programs and they ship very fast it is called the International Book Center and their address is www.ibcbooks.com go straight to the Arabic section and you will see a number of different dictionaries and lexicons and things of that nature. I hope this is of some benefit insha Allaah. There is an excellent dictionary that has Arabic and English and it also has the fi'lul maade and the fi'lul mudaari and the masdar for all the verbs and it is called Al-Mugni Al-Farid Arabic English Dictionary and it is put out Librairie Du Liban and the compiler is Hasan S Karmi. If they have it get it as it is very beneficial.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, wal-hamdulilah rabbil alaameen was-salaatu was-salaam 'ala Rasul lilah wa ba'd.

as-salaamu alaikum,

Jazakum Allah khairan for the information given. Maa shaa Allah I do have the Hans Wehr (Arabic-English).  A teacher of mine told me if I truly wanted to grasp the Lughah then I must obtain three types of dictionaries:  Arabic-Arabic, Arabic-English, English-Arabic. Thus I need these for class. BarakaAllah feekum!
