Ibn Katheer mentioned in his book titled Qasas al Anbiyah (Stories of the Prophets):
quote:
Lut (ayahi salaam) called his people to the exclusive worship of Allah - The Most High - and he likewise forbade them from performing forbidden, despicable deeds and actions which were appalling. They did not accept his admonition, but rather they continued to perform their retched acts of disobedience and transgression and they persisted to indulge in immoral, disbelieving deeds. Due to this, Allah punished them with that which could not be deterred nor did they ever imagine such a punishment would befall them. Allah made them an example for the world and an admonishment for those who possess understanding.
Sheikh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyah mentioned in Mejmu' al Fatawa on the authority of Fudayl bin 'Eyad who said:

If a homosexual were to try to purify himself with every drop of water from the sky, he would still meet Allah (after death) in a filthy state.
