Sunnah Prayer when the Obligatory Prayers are combined

SILSILATUL-HUDAA WAN-NOOR TAPE SERIES (no.229): [13:50] Translated by Aboo Talhah:

Shaikh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee -rahimahullaah- was asked:

[Q.] "There is a question where someone says: In the time of winter, i.e. in the season of winter, we combine the Maghrib Prayer with the Ishaa Prayer. So when should we pray the Sunnah Prayer of Maghrib, and when should we pray the Sunnah Prayer of Ishaa? Benefit us, may Allaah reward you with good."

Answer:

"The Sunnah of Maghrib is not prayed in this situation.
The Sunnah of Ishaa remains as it is: a person can pray it in the mosque, and he can pray it in the house - and that is better.

However the Sunnah (Prayer) which comes after the Ishaa (Prayer), then this does not fall away on account of its being combined with the Maghrib Prayer.

As for the Sunnah Prayer that is between it and the Maghrib Prayer, then it falls away - as it is not reported that when the Prophet combined two Prayers, neither when in residence nor whilst travelling, that he would pray anything between the two Prayers".

[Q.] ".. Some brothers put the question: can the Sunnah of Ishaa (in this situation) be prayed straight after the Ishaa, or should a person wait until its original time begins, to perform it?

Answer: "No, it is as I said: If he wishes he can pray it straight after Ishaa, or he can pray it in his house. So since the Wise Legislator has made concession for the obligatory Prayer to be prayed before its time, then it is even more the case that concession has been made for the optional Prayer which follows it."
