Audio dated 17th Ramadan 1431H (.amr format) (Questions from Holland)

Here are some excerpts from it:
quote:
Sayyid Qutb is a strayer, leading others astray...the carrier of the flag of takfir in this era... and I will not conceal this from you that whoever made takfir of Sayyid Qutb in front of me, I do not censure him, and I do not show rejection to him, rather, I incline towards this, even if I have not embarked upon it (making takfir) till now. And it has reached me with a connected chain from Shaykh Muhammad bin Uthaymin - rahimahullaahu ta'aalaa - when some of the misguidances of  Sayyid Qutb were presented to him, that he said, "Had it not been for wara' (piety, awe, fear of Allah), we would have spoken with his kufr." But I do not wish to split from Shaykh Muhammad (on this) and nor from others from our Scholars who have not proceeded to make takfir of him, however I do not fear that I should say: Strayer, leading others astray, deviant (munharif) from the way of guidance and the path of the believers. Indeed, even the common people from the Muslims, by Allah, are better than him in our view because they respect the Prophets, and they respect the Companions and they respect all of them, but Sayyid Qutb had reviled Moosaa (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and he reviled Adam, and this is known by necessity in the religion to be unlawful, and for this reason, I emphasize for you that I do not show rejection against the one who made takfir of him.
The above audio is just one of many in which Shaykh Ubayd speaks with the misguidance and innovation of Sayyid Qutb. There are numerous scholars who have affirmed that various statements of kufr arose from Sayyid Qutb, from them, mockery of the Prophets, claiming Islam is a mixture of Communism and Christianity, calling for the abolition of parts of the Shari'ah, speaking with the creation of the Qur'an. He also made takfir of Mu'awiyah, Amr bin al-Aas, Abu Sufyaan and the Bani Umayyah, denied al-uluww and al-istiwaa and al-arsh upon the way of the Jahmiyyah and explicitly spoke of the creation of the Qur'an.

For this reason Shaykh Ubayd inclines towards takfir of him but witholds out of wara' following Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin (rahimahullaah) in that.

Around five years ago the Haddaaddiyyah used to attack Shaykh Ubayd for his stance of withholding from tabdee' of Sayyid Qutb due to his belief that the iqaamat al-hujjah had not been made upon him. However, the Shaykh changed his view and his tabdee' of Sayyid Qutb is well known and plentiful in his cassettes and statements from that time. More recently, this doubt has been revived and spread to an English audience who may not be fully aware of the background.

Shaykh Abu Usamah al-Utaybee narrates from Shaykh Ubayd regarding this matter (from last year) - this is found in  Sahab and other forums:

لعل هذا كان قديماً، فقد كنت أتوقف في تبديعه، ولا أشك في أنه ضال مبتدع، وقد صرحت بهذا قبل سنتين، وأنا الآن أقول: أنا لا أترحم عليه، ولا أثرب على من يكفره
quote:

Perhaps this was from before, for I used to withhold regarding his tabdee', but I do not doubt that he is a strayer, innovator. And I explicitly stated this two years ago, and I say now: I do not invoke [Allaah for] mercy upon him, and I do not censure the one who makes takfir of him.
As for those who made takfir of him, it is mentioned about Shaykh Ismaa'eel al-Ansaaree, the brother of Hammaad al-Ansaaree (rahimahumallaah), that he used to make takfir of Qutb, and this is stated by Shaykh al-Utaybee himself.

There is a connected matter here which is the differences that arise between scholars regarding tabdee' (or even takfir) of a person. This is natural, and we find that it has never been the case, or at least very rare that there has been ijmaa' upon tabdee' of a specific innovator, and often there are differences between the people of knowledge from Ahl al-Sunnah in such matters. This comes down to variation in the knowledge that reaches them and there is no doubt that some are in error and others are upon truth. It is precisely for this reason that Ahl al-Sunnah hold to the principle of al-jarh al-mufassar (whether it is for narrators of hadith or innovators and deviants), and without this, the whole deen would have been corrupted in a very short time, and the entire history of Islam would have to be rewritten, and most of the deviants in history would be considered to have been wronged and oppressed. It is for this reason that these innovations of the 20th century that trace back to Hasan al-Banna and for which attempts were made to bring them into the ranks of the Salafis for political ikhwani agendas by the likes of Abdur-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq, Salman al-Awdah, Adnaan Ar'oor, Abu al-Hasan al-Ma'ribee, and now Ali Hasan al-Halabi - that they are from amongst the greatest evils there are and from that which entails the very destruction of Islaam. As one of the Salaf said, "Whoever honoured an innovator has aided in the destruction of Islam". So these false principles, "we correct and do not disparage", "the vast all-inclusive manhaj", "tathabbut", "khabar al-wahid amounts to dhann", "we do not make taqlid", "we do not allow our differences regarding those besides us to cause differing between us", "we must have ijmaa' amongst the scholars upon tabdee' upon an individual before a stance is taken" and so on, all of these are intended to accommodate the Innovators, make excuses for them and shield them from criticism and warning. What gives evidence to this is the very actions of those who speak with these principles in their da'wah, see how they behave and their allegiances and who they sit with and walk with and cooperate with, and like the Salaf said, "Whoever conceals his innovation with us, will not be able to conceal his companionship from us." And we see the realities of people like Abdur Rahman Abdul-Khaliq (Ikhwan, Tabligh and Tahrir are good for competition in the da'wah), al-Awdah (calling for understanding with Sufis and Sh'ites), al-Ma'ribi (now with the Ikhwanis - whom  he was intending to defend all along), and the same type of behaviour with al-Halabi, who would not let go of the Takfiri Qutbi companionship, and the Bannaawi organizations, claiming "I am giving them advice." The period of advice already ended for them a long time ago, and if they did not accept the advice of the Major Scholars, why should they accept it from others.

To illustrate, imagine in the time of Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) when he spoke about al-Karaabeesee ("may Allaah humiliate and expose the khabeeth", "do not speak with him or to whoever speaks with him", "the successor to Bishr al-Mareesi", "innovator", "he is in need of a beating") and al-Muhaasibee and Ibn Kullaab and their likes, imagine someone coming along and speaking with these principles of al-Banna, al-Awdah, al-Ar'oor, al-Ma'ribi and al-Halabi, then imagine what kind of Islam we would be following today and what belief we might have been upon today - for these people created a bridge between the Jahmiyyah, Mutazilah and Ahl al-Sunnah, and had it not been for the Imams of the Sunnah "containing and quarantining this virus", then the ummah thereafter would have not been delivered from being infected and it may very well have been the case, dear reader, that you might be speaking with the Qur'an being created, and denying Allah's sifat fi'liyyah, rather you may well be a misguided Jahmite Sufi (on account of the tasawwuf of Harith al-Muhasibi and the shubuhaat of the Kullaabiyyah). So we should show the utmost gratitude to Allaah, and then to these great Imaams who took these positions and stances those centuries ago and protected the Muslims from a people, who in all honesty, are far superior in knowledge and piety to the likes of Ar'oor, Maghrawi, Ma'ribi and Halabi and their likes, let alone the likes of Qutb and Banna, and it is actually an insult to the likes of al-Karabeesee, al-Muhasibi and Ibn Kullab that they be compared with those mentioned, even if all of them are upon innovation.

So we have the same thing here, when the major scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah speak and refute and warn against the likes of Ar'oor who is a hardcore Qutbi, and Mohammad Hassan, another hardcore Qutbi, and against organizations that carry the Ikhwani thought, and cooperate with Shi'ites, and call for entry into democracy and elections as a principle in da'wah, and so on - all with a jarh  mufassar, and then warn  after iqamat al-hujjah - then come the likes of al-Ma'ribi and al-Halabi and claim independence from these scholars and then invent principles aimed at defending these individuals (because they have ties with them or financial interests or inwardly agree upon the batil they are upon), this leads to great corruption and evil, and you will see the evil effects of this upon those who follow al-Ma'ribee and al-Halabi, of such corruption in al-walaa wal-baraa and such enmity, resentment and hatred against those who adhere steadfastly to the Scholars in these matters that simply cannot be reconciled with what they profess at the same time of being upon the Salafi aqidah and manhaj and with the Major Scholars, as they claim. This is how these Innovators have harmed many of those in the West and split them from their Scholars and affected them with false principles, and corrupted them in al-walaa wal-baraa.

And this corruption in walaa and baraa, which is tied to the actions of the heart, which in turn are tied to the knowledge of the heart, no doubt emanates from these false usool of these innovators, like al-Ma'ribee and al-Halabi. And false, corrupt knowledge leads to false behaviour, as is mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim.
