AsSalaamu alaikum; Being new to Islaam, you need to study your religion and understand it well, as it will be your guide in making decisions. It's not all about sending you money for your bills. How can he fulfill the other obligations that is upon him? Your question is not an easy one. There are many factors involved. Every case is different. If the brother has a short time before he is released, both of you try to be patient until he comes home. Unfortunately, most of the communities have no support for brothers coming from prison except few Imaams offer sincere advice and even some employment but when it comes to the psychological aspects of prison/criminal life, that has been ignored by most if not all the communities as a whole.
