  they are just spelled incorrectly, or maybe its better to say: improperly represented, with these two transliterations, and Allaah knows best.

as-Salaamu alaykum (or alaikum)
salaamun alaykum

the red letters may be added for an attempt at a closer representation of the arabic.  some people may write a symbol over the second a in salam to indicate that it is lengthened.

  ash-Shaykh Salih aal-ash Shaykh in the Audio Tape 'Wasaaya Abu ad-Dardaa' quotes one of the Sahaabah writing a letter which starts with Salaamun 'alaikum ie., with Tankeer & ends it wirh Assalaamu 'alaikum ie., with Ta'reef.

The Shaykhs goes on to explain this that it is way when writing letters but not when communicating with one another orally.
