  As salaamu alaikum warahmatullah

Is there any proof for reciting the last aayat of surah taubah if one is faced with any difficulty. Can some one tell me if this is correct?

JazakAllahu khair

(( من قال حسبي الله لا إله إلا هو عليه توكلت وهو رب العرش العظيم قال الله عز وجل لأكفين عبدي صادقا كان أو كاذبا ((

"Whoever says: 'Allaah is sufficient for me, there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, I put my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne' [Tawbah:122] Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic says, 'I will suffice for My servant, whether he is truthful or untruthful.'"

At-Tabaraanee collected it in Ad-Du'aa'.  There is a similar narration in the Sunan of Abee Daawood (5081):

(( من قال إذا أصبح وإذا أمسى حسبي الله لا إله إلا هو عليه توكلت وهو رب العرش العظيم سبع مرات كفاه الله ما أهمه صادقا بها أو كاذبا ))
"Whoever says upon waking up and upon going to sleep, 'Allaah is sufficient for me, there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, I put my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne' [Tawbah:122] seven times then Allaah will suffice him with regards to what is troubling him, whether he is truthful with it (the aayah) or untruthful."

Al-Albaanee gathered the hadeeth with its different chains and concluded that it is dha'eef due to irsaal and idhtiraab in the wording.  See Silsilatul-Ahaadeeth Adh-Dha'eefah (5286).

And Allaah knows best.
