  As Salaamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I was reading Ayah 6:74 and it says

 Al-An'am (6):74
æóÅöÐú ÞóÇáó ÅöÈúÑóÇåöíãõ áÃóÈöíåö ÂÒóÑó ÃóÊóÊøóÎöÐõ ÃóÕúäóÇãðÇ ÂáöåóÉð Åöäøöí ÃóÑóÇßó æóÞóæúãóßó Ýöí ÖóáÇóáò ãøõÈöíäò

And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) said to his father Azar: "Do you take idols as âlihâ (gods)? Verily, I see you and your people in manifest error."

So its clear and apparent that Azab is the father of Ibraheem,in Tafseer Ibn Kawthir theres a man by the name of Tarakh in the tafseer of the Ayah.  Who is Tarakh? Or are Tarakh and Azab the same men?

This information would be very informative to me.

  Wa Alaikumus Salaam wa Rahmatullaah,

In the book "Stories of the Prophets" by Ibn Kathir (translated into english & published by Dar-us-Salam) on page 125, I found the following two qoutes regarding this ayah:

Verily, I see you and your people in manifest error."

quote:

This Verse shows that the name of the father of Abraham was Azar. However the majority of genealogists, including Ibn Abbas, say that his name was Terah, while in the Bible it is also Terah. So it is suggested that Azar was the name of the idol his father worshipped, and he was called after it.

quote:

Ibn Jarir says: The correct opinion is that his name was Azar, and probably he had two names. Or one of them is his name and the other is his nickname.

I assume that Tarakh (that you mentioned above) is the arabic equivalent to the name Terah.

Jazak`Allahum Khair, brother thank you very much.

This is where I was kinda thrown off, I went to TheNobleQuran.com from Spubs and I looked at the Tafseer of the Ayah and this is what it said

ÞóÇáó ÇáÖøóÍøóÇß Úóäú ÇöÈúä ÚóÈøóÇÓ Åöäøó ÃóÈóÇ ÅöÈúÑóÇåöíã áóãú íóßõäú ÇöÓúãå ÂÒóÑó æóÅöäøóãóÇ ßóÇäó ÇöÓúãå ÊóÇÑöÎ

ÑóæóÇåõ ÇöÈúä ÃóÈöí ÍóÇÊöã æóÞóÇáó ÃóíúÖðÇ ÍóÏøóËóäóÇ ÃóÍúãóÏ Èúä ÚóãúÑæ Èúä ÃóÈöí ÚóÇÕöã ÇáäøóÈöíá ÍóÏøóËóäóÇ ÃóÈöí ÍóÏøóËóäóÇ ÃóÈõæ ÚóÇÕöã ÔõÈóíúÈ ÍóÏøóËóäóÇ ÚößúÑöãóÉ Úóäú ÇöÈúä ÚóÈøóÇÓ Ýöí Þóæúáå " æóÅöÐú ÞóÇáó ÅöÈúÑóÇåöíã áöÃóÈöíåö ÂÒóÑó " íóÚúäöí ÈöÂÒóÑ ÇáÕøóäóã

æóÃóÈõæ ÅöÈúÑóÇåöíã ÇöÓúãå ÊóÇÑöÎ

[ I Spaced due to the bold format, but all is how it was when I took it ]

You see where my confusion could have been rooted from?

And Again Thank you very much.
