Bismillaahi walhamdulillaahi was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaahi, wa ba'du: My almost 6-year-old is always asking "Why is such and such haraam?". I would like to ask the noble brothers and sisters about the best way to deal with this type of question. Should we give a general answer, e.g. "Because Allaah knows best what is bad for his servants and he doesn't make something haraam except that it is bad for them"? Or can one try to give more details, e.g. about pictures - e.g. that they can lead to shirk, etc.? Or should we say that this is a type of question that is not befitting - similar to not asking about "how" Allaah is - that Allaah knows best His reasons for making a thing haraam (or halaal)? بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم I can remember when abu Talha was explaining kitaab Tawheed, he took a great benefit from shaikh Uthaymeen's explanation where the shaikh said that when we tell our children to do something and forbid them from something we should give them the proof as this way the child grows up always acting upon daleel and asking for it. و الله أعلم أبو سلمان النمري طلحة بن وليم والعصر ان الانسان لفي خسر الا الذين آمنواو عملوا الصالحات و تواصوا بالحق و تواصوا بالصبر

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم I doubt if that set is complete as he explained kitaab Tawheed over the period of over 4-5 years!
