As salaamu 'alaykum, On fatwaislam.com it says, "...and the day, according to the Islamic law, is from the time of sunrise until sunset ..." However, on bakkah.net footnote no. 5 it says, "The night is from the setting of the sun to the entrance of the True Fajr, as agreed upon by the scholars." I have also heard a lecture by one of the mashaykh(most probably it was either Shaykh Muhammad Amaan al-Jaami or Shaykh Saalim at-Taweel) in which he said the day according to Shariah is from Fajr to Sunset and not Sunrise to Sunset and night is as mentioned on bakkah.net above. Is there a translation mistake on fatwaislam or is there a difference of opinion amongst Ulemah on this topic? Jazaakumullahu khayra wa salaamu 'alaykum, Sajid

A fatwa of the Permanent committee has the following statement: "...the night begins from the sunset and lasts until the emergence of the second Fajr."
