Bismillahi wa salaatu wa salaamu ala arasoolullaahi wa ala alaihe wa ashabihe ajma'een,

Wa alaikumu salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu,

Shafaqaha Allaah, ameen.

Ya Akhee, What is the length of time that she can wear hijab before the infection will take place?  Maybe she can time when she is out around that, wallaahu ?alum.  It may also be beneficial for her to find out what her medical alternatives may be as I am aware of certain medications that are available to treat scalp conditions such as this.  There are also "outward" factors that can cause these types of infections.  These "outward" factors can be things such as diet, nutrition, or both.  Medications can also cause scalp conditions that are exacerbated (made worse, aggravated) by certain environmental or physical changes to the scalp or other areas that contain hair such as the face.  There are vitamins out there that focus specifically on the hair and all of its components (follicles, sebacious gland, skin etc).  So advise the sister to attempt the medical approach in hope that Allaah will heal her by way of the medicinal treatments and therapies that are available in a wide array of options, walhamdulillaah fee kulli shay wa la hawla wa la quwattah ilah billah.

NOTE:
This is only nisiha that can be taken or thrown out but inshaaAllaah it will be of some benefit.  Barakallaahu Feekum, Ameen.

Akhukum Fillah,

Abu Jameelah

I asked for more information and I got the following (the source being a friend of my wife).

quote:
except that she's prone to health problems (not a hypocondriac, just a body that's out of wack)
she's been diagnosed with cancer (more than one time) and her body never really learned to regulate hormones
Plus her mom is a doctor, if there was a medical solution she'd have found one

To my knowledge this sister wants to take her Shahada but the Hijaab issue is sort of slowing her down in this process.
