Topic: Question: Can I donate my egg to a woman so she can be artificially inseminated by her husband's sperm?

A married woman asks about donating one of her eggs to her friend who wants to be artificially inseminated by her own husband's sperm as she is having problems producing healthy eggs herself.  She wants to know if this is permissible.

Shaykh Muhammad 'Umar Baazmool related that Shaykh al-Albaanee issued a fatwaa that artifical insemination is not permissible, due to the fact that it involves exposing one's 'awrah without a medical need.  Exposing one's 'awrah is haraam and haraam things do not become permissible except under absolute necessity.  The sin of such an operation becomes heavier when other factors are included like exposing one's 'awrah to more than one person, or to the opposite sex, or the possibility of mixing up the sperm and/or egg with someone else's, and the people's lineage being mixed up.  And Allaah knows best.

Based on this, that which you are asking about is even more dangerous, since it involves the above, plus the certainty that the egg is from other than the birth mother.
