As-Salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullaah,

On the tape "Rulings on Living in the Lands of The Kuffaar" The Aalim, Shayky Nasirudeen al-Albanee talks of an encounter he had with one tie wearing follower of Muadudi.

The talk is available for listening on www.salafiaudio.com insha Allaah, and should be available for purchase at any salafi bookshop or masjid.

  As salaamu alaikum wa rahmahtullah.

There are many muslims that wear the necktie, so I believe it would benefit many, if someone can ask the Ulema concerning "the Necktie" and post it here, InShaAllaah, wa Allaahu Alam.  Barak Allaahu Feekum. May Allaah Reward The Individuals Who Help With This, With Good In This Life And In The Hereafter, Ameen.

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmahtullah.

  As salaamu alaikum wa rahmahtullah.

This issue concerning"The NeckTie" concerns individuals whose employment in the land of the kuffar requires the wearing of it.  So ilm concerning it is sort after, by myself and possibly others, wa Allaahu Alam. Barak Allaahu Feekum.

And we must not exclude those living in the Muslims lands, for they also some agencies, private schools, language academies etc, that require or impose the wearing of slacks, shirt and tie upon their Muslim employees!

There are many employers here in Saudi Arabia that require the employee to wear slacks, shirt and neck tie. So those who are seeking employment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the gulf don't be suprise if you have a job offer and they require you to wear slacks, shirt, and neck tie every day. This is done in many parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by business men who are very western and like to present this image to their customers etc.

brothers I have read most of the above and have not yet read an answer from what was narrated to me by a salafi brother.  If somebody could found the evidence to go with this answer it would be very beneficial and a much stronger answer for all thos people who wear ties to work.

I was narrated that the tie when WRAPPED round your neck was done so in a way to symbolise the christian cross.  But having searched the web(simple google search) for History of the neck tie it seems to point to the croats inventing it and the french made it into a fashion accessory.

I will ask the brother for his source of this information inshallah.

Alhamdalillah ALLAH has made it easy for me as my employee allows us not to wear the tie and I take full advantage of it.

Wallaikum aslaam

Fatwa no. 4257

Q: what is the ruling on wearing tight trousers? What will be the ruling if it is baggy or similar to that worn by people in the West? What if it differs in the trousers shape (the style)? What is the ruling on wearing a suit and what is so called a tie , in addition to other clothes worn by the Kuffar (disbelievers)? Would the ruling on them be altered if Muslims are accustomed to wearing them, such that people do not think they involve resembling the Kuffar? Finally, what is the best type of clothing to be worn by a Muslim in this age? What is the ruling on all these things? May Allah have mercy upon you!

A: The basic principle in clothes is permissibility, except for what is excluded by Shari`ah (Islamic law), like gold and silk for men, except for cases of scabies. Wearing trousers is not related to the Kuffar, but if it specifies the body parts or the `Awrah (private parts of the body that must be covered in public), it becomes impermissible to wear it, whereas baggy trousers are permissible, unless they are worn with the intention of resembling the Kuffar. The same applies to suits and ties, for they are not of the clothes designated to the Kuffar, therefore, it is permissible to wear them, unless

( Part No : 24, Page No: 41)

the person who wears them does this with the intention of resembling the Kuffar. In general, the basic principle is the permissibility of clothes unless otherwise indicated by legal evidence.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions!
